I am currently in the process of developing an Audio Visual application in an effort to learn shaders, specifically compute and geometry shaders in Unity. During this process I came across the work of John Whitney who was best known for his work as computer graphics artist and created some very iintricate and inpiring artworks such as “Catalog” and “Arabesque”. To replicate some of John Whitney’s style I started creating a particle systems using both compute and geometry shaders. Combing this system with some FFT audio analysis the project developed into the images you can see below. I plan to implement a MIDI interface so I can control the particle parameters externally. I hope to use this project as part of a larger visual performance.
